JobView printing weird
JobView printing weird
So I have only been a mitchell1 user for about 2? ish months now. In settings I checked the new job view for invoices etc, and I do like it, however today it started looking wierd and I'll be wasting paper, So I have reverted back to the old style until i can get this fixed.
which leads me to my question on how to fix this...
as you see it cuts it in half and wastes all that paper...

Re: JobView printing weird
Hello and welcome to the forum!
While there is always a challenge with specialized state templates (all of the disclaimers, tech info, signatures, part return sections for MI require reserved space), something does look off. Posting my own version for comparison.
Your bolded sections in particular look too extreme. I'd venture a guess that you're either missing the intended fonts, or have some issue with your print driver. Have you called into support?

not yet.
since nothing in the system has changed I do not see how drivers/fonts are missing
figured it may just be a simple thing that can be fixed without an hour of hold time.

Which template are you using for the estimate?Spre wrote: Tue Aug 26, 2025 2:24 pm not yet.

They're in Michigan, Larry - so they've got special requirements most states don't. That entire bottom section about parts being saved, the technician info, and the new part compliance.
@Spre As for contacting support, we generally do not have long wait times. I know finding the time to be on the phone can be a challenge, but our agents are answering on average in under 30 seconds.
Alternatively, if you want to try some things on your own - you might try to install the brand new release, v9.2.1 - it might restore the font. You can download that here: https://kb.mitchell1.com/versions/

Re: JobView printing weird
I will say this about the new job view. For the most part, I do like how it works. But if I have a repair order that has several jobs/complaints on it, it will almost always print two pages, with the second being mostly blank. I am using the Job View Estimate for my repair order template.

Re: JobView printing weird
One of our goals with Manager SE 9.2 was to lessen the incidence of "spilling to second page" over SE 9.1. We did make gains in this regard, but it's not always going to be the case, depending on the content and any state requirements templates that take up space. I believe you're free of the last factor in your state.DynaBMan wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:40 am I will say this about the new job view. For the most part, I do like how it works. You might take a look at your print preferences for Job View templates. Go to Configurations > Shop Data> Presentation tab to confirm the options in play.

Just to add what Tim mentioned - we tightened up space in those templates in 9.2 (which not everyone got). Also, if you like Job View for your own internal use (and it comes with a lot of nice options you don't get in the flat view) you can pair it with the legacy templates. They won't appear in the same job-based view, but just wanted to let you know you don't have to chose completely one or the other - you can do a hybrid solution.

I'm not sure what you mean by pairing it with the legacy templates?
Personally, I like the job view all the way around. It's handy when reviewing a repair order estimate, actual printed copy. It is very easy to describe what needs to be done and the cost to a customer. I just wish it didn't have all of the blank spaces at the end of the estimate.

I just mean you can turn on it under the Presentation section, then go back into File > Print Setup and chose different/old style templates for printing.
Now I agree (of course!) that the new templates look WAY better and are far easier for customers to read. Just wanted to say it is an option.
Did you check your version? If not 9.2.x, grab that update. If so, as Tim mentioned - try to turn off things that aren't needed in your state - often things like Order Revision History and/or the Order Level Charge section.
*Edit: I will say overall we aren't necessarily done tweaking these new printing formats, but part of their appeal is the cleaner aesthetic when giving them to a customer. We're not going to try jam them up and use every bit of space and end up with them as cluttered as the old style templates - ever.

Can you explain what the Order Level Charge section is?Silky7 wrote: Thu Sep 04, 2025 6:13 am I just mean you can turn on it under the Presentation section, then go back into File > Print Setup and chose different/old style templates for printing.

Absolutely. It's where the Hazmat, shop supplies and order-level discounts go. But it does take some extra space, because it displays like a job itself.

Complete coincidence - the order I picked to pull that screenshot from dropped from 2 pages to 1 when I turned that section off.Silky7 wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:16 am Absolutely. Yep, I discovered the same thing. I have it turned off, mainly because it seems to be a little redundant.Silky7 wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:17 amComplete coincidence - the order I picked to pull that screenshot from dropped from 2 pages to 1 when I turned that section off.Silky7 wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:16 am Absolutely.
