Phantom tax on estimates- Tax exempt accounts

Post by chris.corlee »

Manager 9.1.0.3357- When printing ESTIMATE from sub-estimate, on tax exempt vehicles, shows tax of $2.19. Parts amount does not matter, always $2.19 tax. Have tried 2 different estimates, 2 different accounts, same result. Wouldn't be a big deal, but state agencies are super particular about such things.

I would assume this is coming from taxable Hazmat/Shop Supplies. Are you setup with a minimum for either of those values?

You are correct, Silky7. Shop supplies max is $25 and tax on that is $2.19. But if customer and vehicle are set to exempt, why does tax show up on Estimates but not RO's or Invoices?

This is a nuance that occurs because the revisions are based on the order. When you have no current order for the subestimate to pattern after for taxes, the assumption is made it will be like any other order and include those. You should be able to see this difference if you have an open order for the vehicle that isn't taxable. For instance, you can create an estimate with only a note item, and then accessing the revisions you should no longer see that tax applied.
